2 Timothy "According to The Promise of Life"

The greetings/introductions to each of the New Testament books reveal who Jesus is, His leaders are, and who the church is individually-collective, and this blog series intends to help us understand how that allows God’s people receive revelation into a deeper relational existence than they had prior to knowing this amazing map of our journey that He has given to us.

The greeting of the letter titled 2 Timothy is, “Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The revelational statement in this greeting is, “according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,” This is the first time in the Bible that a greeting includes this phrase. The usage of this phrase shifts the mindset of greetings from being a saint, to the life that it gives. God gives His gift to His people as they can receive it, and since they have understood their sainthood through former greetings, they can now receive the life which is “in Christ Jesus.”

God has this incredible map for His people, and He shares it with them as He knows they can receive it. Continue following the series and find out how amazing the journey can be.

Tomorrow’s blog is Titus which states, “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”
