John "The Word Was God"

The greetings/introductions to each of the New Testament books reveal who Jesus is, His leaders are, and who the church is individually-collective, and this blog series is to help us understand how that allows God’s people to receive revelation into a deeper relational existence than they had prior to knowing this amazing map of our journey that He has given to us.

The Gospel According to John’s greeting is, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”

John is announcing that Jesus was in the beginning; like Genesis states, “In the beginning God created…” This statement has Jesus existing before the beginning.

John then places Jesus “with God” This is an external position that is announced.

John then states, “Jesus was God.” This does not state that Jesus still is God, but he gets to that later in another book of the Bible.

John follows it up with a statement that may appear at first glance to be restating what he had already said, but it is much different upon closer look. He tells us, “was in the beginning with God.” This is another prepositional state of being “in the beginning with God.”

Jesus created all things, and “all things” includes Himself.

So, what is the point of this blog post???

John is telling God’s people who Jesus is, when Jesus existed in what state of being, and how everything was made. This is huge news for the ones who shall receive it in the depth of revelation that it gives God’s people.

God has this incredible map for His people, and He shares it with them as He knows they can receive it. Continue following the series and find out how amazing the journey can be.

Tomorrow’s blog is Acts introduction which states, “Until the day in which he was taken up,”
