Revelation "InThe Isle Of Patmos"
Each book in the Bible gently guides God's people into a more intimate relationship with their Creator, as He knows must occur, for His people to receive Him in the depth of the relationship that He purchased for them. Each day we are covering, in sequential order, one of the twenty-seven books of the New Testament and explaining how each of them is revealing God in a more intimate way than has been given to this point in the scriptures.
Today is the twenty-seventh and final day of the series, “The Progressive Revelation of Jesus Christ” and the book is, Revelation, the twenty-seventh book in the New Testament as it appears in our Bible. Revelation is an account of an experience John had while, “in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.” John is telling God’s people how he was “in” the isle and not only on it. This positional state of being is what all of God’s people must come to understand to receive the things that have already been given to them, but few ever receive while they are still in their earthly bodies. Being “in” the isle, is being in the place of separation from the world and united in God while being a prisoner for the testimony of Jesus Christ, and is the final state of revelation and relation that exists.
John saw Jesus, and the following occurred, “And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:” Until this point in the New Testament, no one had seen Jesus in the flesh after His ascension, and He certainly had not touched anyone physically. This is not only available for John, but everyone else who God leads through their journey to this point of revelation, but the world will always try to distract, and it will distract most people enough to never reach this level intimacy.
Jesus tells John to convey a message to seven of the churches, and one of them was the church at Philadelphia; which, part of His message to them was, ““I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.” This was the only church that Jesus approved and did not rebuke in any way, and He will also do this for all of His people who wholeheartedly follow Him.
Jesus told John to tell another church this, “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” This rebuke and casting out awaits all of those who do not follow Him wholeheartedly, and there is no respect of persons with Him; so, whatever a man sows that He will receive.
John then saw and heard this, “…a door was opened in heaven:…Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.” and was brought up to heaven. This is God’s gift to His people who are in the most intimate state of existence that exists, seeing heaven while still in their earthly bodies.
Jesus still has a special function while He is in heaven, even before His people get there permanently: “And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon…the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book …“
Jesus always has and always will do everything that He is told and shown to do by our Father. “And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals,…And when he had opened the seventh seal,” There are horrible things that happen to people outside of a relation with Him
An angel tells John, “Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.” This is the first instruction not to share the received information to anyone in the new Testament.
Jesus then tells John, “And I will give power unto my two witnesses…And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them…And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.” This miracle is not just by chance going to happen; it will come to pass as God set it in motion.
“And the temple of God was opened in heaven.” John got to see inside of the Temple of God, and this is what each of God’s children can experience because it is who they are. The keys to the kingdom are what allows His people to perceive what is within them, just like John did in this vision.
John was shown the battle as is has and will occur in the spiritual and physical realms, and so can every child of God who is able to receive complete revelation while still in their earthly bodies.
“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven;…And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon,… And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron:… And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon;…And the great dragon was cast out,…he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.”
“And it was given unto him to make war with the saints,…”
Satan causes people to, “receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:”
Jesus then, “thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.”
“And I saw another sign in heaven,…seven angels having the seven last plagues… And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God,…And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth… And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done..”
“The beast that thou sawest was,… and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world,”
“Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues...And the kings of the earth…shall bewail her…And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her”, and “Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.”
“And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:”
“And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him,…These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.”
“…and bound him a thousand years,…And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,…And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are,…And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
God knows everything that must occur and has told His people in advance of it coming to pass; so they shall be prepared and understand before it does, but the rest of the world will be dazed and confused because they have rejected His warnings.
Then, God’s plan will be completed by recreating the earth and heaven in its perfection that He intends by the following:
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth:… And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new…He that overcometh shall inherit all things.”
“And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it… for the glory of God did lighten it,…for there shall be no night there… no wise enter into it any thing that defileth,”
“…was there the tree of life,…And there shall be no more curse:…and his name shall be in their foreheads… and they shall reign for ever and ever.”
“And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.”
“And I John saw these things, and heard them…He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.”
The examples in this blog are only a limited sample of the deepening relational revelation described through the letter writing titled “Revelation.”
The intent of the blog is to demonstrate the difference in the revelation that God gives to His people as they intently follow Him and focus on what He has told them through their individual lives, and the revelation they’ve received through the Holy Spirit and His Holy Bible.
Tomorrow I will start a new blog series on the greetings of the New Testament and how they explain who Jesus is, who the Church leaders are, and who God’s people that come to complete revelation are in His fullness.
