The Oil for the Lamps and Garments for the Priests
The Oil for the Lamps
Exodus 27:20And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always. 21 In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute forever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.
Jesus is His people’s High Priest that is a lamp unto their feet a light to their path and was beaten to supply the oil that is required for it to exist. His people are to follow His path and enter His way to the truth; therefore, they are humbled to realize they have the opportunity to see this world as He sees it and arrive in the day once He has brought them through the night.
Garments for the Priests
Exodus 28:1 And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons. 2 And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty. 3 And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office. 4 And these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office. 5 And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen.
Like Aaron and his sons did not ask to be the priests, but God made them to be priests, God’s people who will be His priests are consecrated to Him before they realize it and He brings them along to the place He needs them to be to accomplish His purpose through their lives. Jesus is the High Priest and His people are to be as He is in this world. Jesus asked our Father to glorify Him as He was before the world began, and that is what He will do to all of His people. God is showing His people how to be glorified and what part of them must be glorified through the Priests’ garments. The Lord is the one who is wise hearted, and He recreates His people with new hearts that can be filled with the Holy Spirit. This Spirit clothes them with the breastplate of righteousness, the ephod or shield of faith, the mitre or helmet of salvation, and the girdle is what “girts the loins with truth.” There is no silver or brass on these articles of clothing; because only gold, the three colors of the map, and the fine linen are acceptable in the full presence of God for His people.
